Abstract
Discussed in this paper are approaches through which a community may be able
to ease the adverse impact of a plant closing. These approaches include an active
negotiation with the company in such a way to make the transfer process of displaced
workers less painful, as well as a utilization of the closed plant for other productive
uses. There is no easy or quick way of replacing the closing plant. This paper is
intended to provide information that can assist communities in adapting to the closed
plant.
